The Management of Health and Safety Work Regulations 1999: Regulation 7 requires that “Every employer shall appoint one or more Competent Persons to assist him in undertaking the measures he needs to take to comply with the requirements and prohibitions imposed upon him by or under the relevant statutory provisions”.

Our Essential Competent Person Support package fulfils all the requirements of the role. This package is our entry level package and very popular where schools have their own H&S advisor in house.

For proactive Academies/MATs that wish to fully utilise our professional support for Health and Safety Management, we offer our Management plus and Premium Academy/MAT packages. These will include all the provisions of the Competent Person Support package, including an annual inspection as well as audit plus a further time allocation which can be used for any of the specific and ad hoc services we have available.

Standard Daily and Hourly Rates apply to any additional assistance requested – these rates are very competitive and inclusive of travel costs.

Essential “Competent Person” Support Package

This essential package comprises our retention as Competent person and an allocation of 1 day (Primary) or 2 days (Secondary/Middle) to fulfil the RPA specification for the role. It includes:

Provision of up to date guidance and advice with unlimited access to 0800 Helpdesk via telephone and email
Regular review of H&S Policies to ensure they are fit for purpose and effective
Training of key personnel to ensure they understand their H&S duties and responsibilities
Oversight of and assistance with Risk Assessment management
Monitoring of Accidents and RIDDOR Reporting
Endorsement of External Visits
Annual Audit of management systems and procedures in order to confirm compliance for the Governors, Trustees or Partners
Delegate place at our ever popular Annual H&S Update Seminar

Management Plus Package

All the elements of the “Competent Person” Support Package plus we manage and build in one or more of the services below. Packages can be extended at the Standard Daily Rate. The time may be allocated to any of the services that we are able to offer on a planned or ad hoc basis. Specific examples are:

Premium Support Package – Regular on-site support

All of the above, however in addition a nominated member of our team works on site for you and for a prescribed number of days per year to assist with on site compliance and risk assessment work. This can represent a substantial saving in respect of recruitment, retention and on-costs and with the added assurance that you will be looked after by experienced safety professionals.
